News and feature writing
I have worked extensively in business-to-business publishing, including stints as Food Editor of The Publican and Features Editor of Retail Week. I have written news and features for B2B magazines and websites including The Caterer, The Grocer, The Morning Advertiser, The On Trade Preview, Propel Quarterly, Cost Sector Catering, Eat Out, Freehouse, Off Licence News, In-Store Marketing, Club Mirror, Golf Club Hospitality, and many others. I have also written for the national press and broadcast media.
Editing
Alongside my work as a news and feature writer, I was founding Editor of The Retail Bulletin, a news website for retail professionals. For The Publican, I edited Your Business, a monthly magazine supplement, and had extended periods covering key roles including City & Business Editor, Features Editor and News Editor. I have edited a range of magazines including Incentive & Motivation for the promotions industry, and Masterchef for the Master Chefs of Great Britain.

I have wide experience of writing and editing employee and customer newsletters and magazines for print, email and web.
Copywriting
I have extensive experience of PR, marketing and advertising copywriting for both print and web.
Research
I have worked on a range of bespoke research projects for food and drink companies, as well as undertaking research for TV programmes on topics such as pubs and pub food.

As a co-director of ShielPorter Communications www.shielporter.com I have worked extensively on PR programmes and campaigns for a broad range of clients.
Beer Sommelier
I am accredited as a Beer Sommelier by the Guild of Beer Sommeliers and regularly host beer and food matching events for both corporate and private clients.
